When was the All-Star? MLB All-Star I am thinking was probably in late July , and seeing that the minors finish up in September early , maybe it wasn't really half a season and he might of just had a kind of slump for a month, they all have had that. But, he may have been injured somewhat, someone might know. MLB roster---I believe they should carry 2 back-up middle infielders. I like Donald for one early, until Utley is surely back, and if Bruntlett is not traded, he gets the other. A catcher, those 2, 12 pitchers, that leaves 2 Outfielders. Dobbs would slide to the outfield in that case. Stairs is tradeable because he could pinch-hit and such and only makes a million. Jenkins could be traded, particularly if a bad contract is taken back or most of salary is assumed by Phillies. So that is the way Mayberry could make it, I say, as one of the 2 reserve outfielders. However, I would want one of the 2 reserve outfielders to be capable of a good defensive Center Field. Dobbs and Mayberry would not be it. Yeah, Phils always like to have defensive OF backup. However, with Burrell gone, it may not be as critical.

A somewhat speedy guy who could cover all 3 OF positions would be nice.
We have a very slow bench right now as Bruntlett is the "speed" option off the bench right now. I almost guarantee a Stairs trade and a scrapheap late Feb signing of a speedier guy.

Hoping Donald has a good spring training in order to come N. w the team since 2b appears "open" for maybe a month or two. And, that will allow him to lose his ML virginity and transfer that experience--if successful-- to fill in 3rd base against pitchers that Feliz finds tough to handle...in preparation for next year at 3rd after Feliz leaves.
Also: the word on Marson is that his BA and OBA may have been inflated last season and that he might not do nearly so well IF he doesn't learn to hit the ball not so much on the ground.
Can/will he be able to amend his stroke to put more lift on the ball at Lehigh Valley?? If he does, he'll become invaluable...quickly.
And, is it reasonable to assume that our #1 prospect will do well enough @ LV as to reward the big team and himself with joining the Phils' staff? If so, that's a lot of help for the team during 2009s season.
Enthusiasm abounds for the better AAA team we'll seemingly field in '09.
And, I too will be watching Cholly's working w Mayberry which, as said above, might take him to LV to work on his hitting via The Hit Guru.
Lotsa fun in store for our minor lg watchers!
