Just wondering if anyone has any idea who will be playing for the Claws this upcoming season? And, what are the chances of having Mitchell or Mattair repeat this year?

I think they both move up to Clearwater. Both are young and starting to come into their own. I expect big things from both.

I'm curious as too whether they start Stutes and Cisco here or do they jump them to Clearwater.
Also, Do you place Collier in Williamsport this year or challenge him with Lakewood?
I'm assuming Drabek will START the season here, but if his domination continues he'll probably end the year in Reading.
I can't wait for roster announcements.

I think you have to handle Overbeck and Mattair for the next few years. Whom do you keep ahead/behind. Or do you change positions?
I think you keep them both at 3B, with Mattair repeating Lakewood and Overbeck jumping to Clearwater, based on age. If Overbeck struggles and Mattair breaks out in his repeat year, you swap them at mid-season. If both do very well, you wait longer and bring Mattair to CLW in July or August. If Mattair is so-so and Overbeck holds his own (most likely), you advance them in this order for a few years.

I think you have to lay out the possible rosters to see what makes sense. That would be a fun thing to look at. Can't see making decision on one guy without know the full effect on rosters above and below, and then it gets real complex and interactive between all levels. Maybe in the Prospect Talk forum? I might give it a try, but, others know WAY more than me about our prospects.

I don't know who will fill out the roster, but I am excited. I get to see a few games here and there when they come to Hagerstown. I can' t wait!

Overbeck will never play in the majors as a 3B...LF field is a more likely option.

I'd guess D'Arnaud spends most of 2009 at Lakewood. Phillies moved Marson 1 level per year for 5 years. They were a tad more aggressive with D'Arnaud, giving him a late season callup to Lakewood, but I think he'll start there and maybe spend 3/4 of the season there with another late callup.
Hamilton at 1B, Overbeck at 3B (just because of the lack of options), Hanzawa at SS? Collier I think starts here, Myers maybe repeats again? Haislett could start here too.
De Fratus, Cloyd, Roth, Diekman, Slate, Knapp, and maybe Trevor May would seem like guesses at the rotation. I think they need to start Worley in Clearwater, same with Stutes and Cisco.

Starting Collier here would show A LOT of trust and faith. If he can perform there at that age it would be awesome.

I can see Slate staying in Ext till it's time for Williamsport. I also think Sampson will start the season in Lakewood (due to the log jam in Clearwater. Can't wait to see how Knapp does as well.GOOOOO BLUECLAWS!

I can see Slate staying in Ext till it's time for Williamsport. Someone posted an article over on the blog that mentioned that Slate had been ticketed for Lakewood this year but came down with mono. If that's true, I don't think there's any way Kyle doesn't start in Lakewood this summer. I think Yohan Flande could be a candidate for promotion to Lakewood as well. The rotation will be interesting: de Fratus and Slate seem like certainties, Knapp could wind up starting here, and then you probably wind up picking two out of Roth, Diekman, Cloyd, Ballestas, and May. I also think Susdorf could be pushed to Clearwater.

I'm thinking this will be the lineup: Castro CF Garcia 2B Collier RF Hamilton 1B Mattair 3B Susdorf LF Naughton C Galvis SS DeFratus Slate Diekman Roth Knapp Cloyd, Ellis, ? (I am out of my league here trying to guess what a lineup will be--I feel more confident about the guys who have a full season under their belts and I do not reserach the Latin or HS guys much. but I like to see the lineup mapped out to get an idea of the strength of the team. I am assuming Overbeck and Hanzawa go to CLW, but as others have said, they may not. I think Mattair and Galvis's bats need a slow approach at this point and a strategy of repeating them and developing confidence might be the right way to go.) (The same could be said for keeping D'Arnaud in Lakewood and promoting the older Naughton. Keeping the younger, high-upside guys together, like D'Arnaud, Galvis, and Mattair, might be a good idea. But I have a feeling D;Arnaud will hit well in ST and go to CLW. Hence Naughton staying in LW.)

I gotta say that that's a pretty nice lineup for Lakewood to have...bats wise.
